4G promised by Orange and T-Mobile towards the end of 2012

Everything Everywhere (Orange and T-Mobile) promises 4G speeds towards the end of 2012.

The biggest network operator in the UK is claiming HSPA+ 21 technology will boost your handset’s download and upload speeds by 50%. This is in preparation for faster HSPA+ 42 technology that will available to Orange and T-Mobile customers before the end of this year. Everything Everywhere will be starting its LTE trial using the 1800MHz frequency by April.

What are the benefits of 4G? First of all, it speeds up the process of downloading, uploading, streaming, browsing, and sending emails. Another would be better coverage, since 4G makes use of a lower frequency, which travels farther compared to 3G. In terms of practicality, it can replace conventional phone cables, which costs more to install. This also means that broadband will reach rural areas where internet access was impossible in the past. This would also mean that we can now make use of smartphones that were once only available in countries that make use of LTE networks such as the US. Phones such as the Samsung Galaxy S2 4G and the beefed up version of the HTC Sensation XE in the US, the HTC Rezound, would be available in the UK.

We just hope the legal spat between network operators do not delay Everything Everywhere’s 4G plans. We also hope Ofcom plans of speeding up the process become reality.

Hoping 4G becomes a reality in the UK via Everything Everywhere? Give us your thoughts.
