According to Good Technology via Phone Arena, Android devices are struggling to compete with their more popular iOS-powered rivals in terms of the race for supremacy in the business market.
Good Technology has looked into the amount of devices activated by the enterprise market in the first quarter of this year. Their findings have revealed that devices by Apple are more popular compared to Android-powered devices. It’s strange, however, that Research In Motion or Microsoft’s Windows Phone was not included in the survey. If RIM was included in the research, it’s likely to still dominate the said market, but only by a slim margin.
According to the report, out of the Android and iOS devices activated at the beginning of the year, 80% of devices activated in the business market were Apple products with the iPad 2 and the iPhone 4S dominating the charts.
Among the Android and iOS devices being activated in the enterprise market, 75% of these were smartphones. However, tablets are growing in popularity in both the consumer and business markets. The gap between devices is sure narrow down in the months or years to come.
The report reveals that the financial services sector accounts for 36% of the activations in the first quarter of this year, making it the biggest sector to participate in the study. This is no surprise since this is sector does have more money to spend than others, given the hefty price tags of these devices.
