According to The Verge, an annoyed Judge Richard Posner dismisses a patent case between Apple (makers of the iPhone 4S) and Motorola (makers of the RAZR), saying that both companies “can establish a right to relief”. This means that the judge does not believe that both companies have a valid case.
For now, Judge Posner issues the temporary order. However, there’s a slim chance that the judge changes his mind to make the case go any further once he makes his formal opinion scheduled sometime next week.
Motorola said on the ruling, “We are pleased by the Illinois trial court’s tentative ruling today dismissing Apple’s patent claims and look forward to receiving the full decision.”
