The Big Idea: Marketing with Promotional Gifts

Promotional Gifts are an excellent way to Market Your Business. They are a cost effective means of thanking your existing customers and attracting new customers. Make sure you send out Promotional Gifts or Corporate Gifts that have the WOW! Factor. When you send out Promotional Gifts you should not look at it as purely advertising it should be more than that and part of your overall marketing strategy. Most advertising is wasted so before you start thinking about Promotional Gifts that act as Marketing Tools for you business read this from Advertising Guru David Ogilvy; ”It takes a big idea to attract the attention of consumers and get them to buy your product. Unless your advertising contains a big idea, it will pass like a ship in the night. I doubt if more than one campaign in a hundred contains a big idea.”

Ask yourself these questions.

What functions do you want your Promotional Gifts to achieve?

Are you sending out Promotional Gifts to increase you company’s recognition and reinforce you Branding?

Are you doing this to get your target market to know you exist?

Are you trying to sell a product or service?

Are you trying to retain existing customers and get them to spend more with you?

Will the sending out of Promotional Gifts be an extremely cost effective way of advertising and marketing your business?

Will this strategy increase your sales?

We spoke to Paul Lakeman from Flying Bears UK Ltd and asked him what he thought of the Promotional Gift Market and how effective Promotional Business Gifts can be. He said this “When we opened our Corporate Teddy Bear Business we had a customer base of zero and we obviously needed to sell product, we had warehouse full of Teddy Bears. We had a look at the local market and decided to target the local hotels first. We went out with a digital camera and photographed the signage of the hotel so we would have a good idea of the font they were using and their corporate colours. We took great attention to detail. We then produced sample Teddy Bears for 90% of the Hotels in Blackpool and crafted communication to accompany these Promotional Gifts. This communication was intended to serve two purposes: One to drive customers to our newly opened retail outlet and secondly encourage the Hotels to use us as a supplier of Promotional Gifts. When we had 20 samples made we would personally deliver them to the Hotels to introduce ourselves and our product. The Hotels were most receptive to this soon Personalised Teddy Bear were seen strategically placed in bars and Hotel receptions areas throughout Blackpool. The beauty about our promotional products is that the Hotels did not need to give them away they were selling them at a profit and promoting their establishment at the same time. They were also driving traffic and customers to our retail outlets so it was a win win scenario for all concerned. We had a Big Idea, we gave it thought, paid attention to detail and we have never looked back. Due to the demand from our valued customers 2011 we see us expand our business to incorporate other Promotional Gifts”

The giving of Gifts that are personalised demonstrates sincerity and shows that thought has been given to your purchase. The Personalised Gift has become the favourite choice for many gift buyers and numerous internet sites offer a massive selection of products that can be personalised and sent as unique gifts. This review will look at some of the options available to you. A good starting point is google.co.uk and the search term type personalised gifts. We will take a look at the first page top seven organic listings and pick some of our favourite personalised gifts for different gift giving occasions.

Website Launches Valentine’s Day Gift Guide

Jersey Channel Islands 27-11-2010: Valentine’s Day will soon be upon us and if you are like me you will be thinking about what to buy your partner. The very thought of Valentine’s Day is one of Hearts, Romance and of exchanging cards and gifts between lovers.

These days the Valentines Gift buyer is spoilt for choice and has an amazing selection of both online and offline products especially tailored for this auspicious occasion. Certain Gifts such as Beautiful Bouquets of Flowers, Perfumes and Heart shaped Chocolates have become synonymous with Valentine’s Day Gifts. There is no better to tell someone you love them than with a well thought-out and meaningful gift on Valentine’s Day. Making sure you chose the right gift is imperative and as you know the person you are buying the gift for intimately there is no reason whatsoever as to why you should play it safe and buy traditional gifts.

Flowers: I’m not against the buying of gorgeous flowers but maybe try Freesias as an alternative to Roses. The local florist may be a far more creative option as you can carefully select the blooms you know she loves, a single rose won’t do, and she deserves better than that.

Perfume: You could go for a lovely bottle of sweetly scented perfume go for a scent that’s unusual, I would recommend Lime, Basil and Mandarin from the Jo Malone Range, it’s so heavenly!

Chocolates: For Chocolates visit Hotel Chocolate rather that get a box of Ferrero Rocher grabbed from the supermarket shelf. Go for quality rather than quantity look for unique flavours that will surprise and delight her.

Drink: A Personalised Bottle of Wine would be a thoughtful Gift. Splash out on a bottle of Veuve Clicquot or Laurent Perrier Rose that will always be most welcomed before a romantic candlelight meal. If your budget doesn’t stretch to that go for a good Spanish Cava, make sure along with the glasses it is nicely chilled.

Lingerie: Many men fall into the trap of buying seductive lingerie, nothing wrong with that women adore felling sexy and the Agent Provocateur Collection is divine but please get something as a gift just for her!

Jewellery: Search online find a little box or trinket that you can get personalised with a name and a message of affection from you. Go Personalised and get her something she can keep for years to come, something to remind her of your feelings towards her.

Teddy Bears: Always loved and appreciated. Try FunkyBears where you can have your Teddy Bear Personalised with a unique message from you. ‘Love You Lots like Jelly Tots’ however you want to say it, tell her how you love her with a Personalised Teddy Bear.

Valentine’s Day Card: Take your time go online to Moonpig or The Dog’s Doodahs you can be romantic and humorous at the same time. Why not design a special Valentine’s Day Card that shows her your creative side.

Always try and be creative with your gifts and try and chose presents that are truly imaginative and will show your partner how much you love and appreciate her. This Valentine’s Day take your time and think about a Valentine Day Gifts she would love to receive. A small original bunch of handpicked flowers, scrummy chocolates, a chilled bottle of bubbly, a personalised teddy bear, go on you both deserve it!

Beware of Addiction Says Personalised Gifts Retailer

“People often have a problem finding Unique Christmas Gift Ideas. I sincerely believe Personalisation is the way forward”

Jersey Channel Island 24-11- 2010 : Paul Lakeman of FunkyBears.com one of the UK’s leading suppliers of Personalised Teddy Bear Gifts urges you to get Personal this Christmas and experience the feel good factor with your gift giving. Paul has undertaken a study into the psychology of gift giving and the importance it plays in modern society. Paul has been quoted as saying. ‘Extensive examination and studies into peoples patterns of gift giving have revealed that a great deal of psychological benefit is obtained by gift givers. This benefit often surpasses the benefit the recipient of the gift receives. The advent of the internet and the plethora of choices available for gift personalisation have led to more and more gift buyers turning to Personalised Gifts. The simple reason for this is that they find personalised gift buying pleasurable and it instills a sense of wellbeing within them. As they proceed through the gift buying process and imagine how favourably their gift choice will be received their brains produce endorphins, natural opiates that produce a feel good factor. Most people get immense pleasure in doing well for others and the buying of gifts for others especially when they are personalised is no exception. A Gift at Christmas or any other time of the year reflects your personality and character and gift giving has gone through metamorphosis emerging as an art form. Modern personalisation techniques have afforded the gift buying public the means to get really creative and hone their gift giving skills.’

Paul also issued a warning. ‘The buying of Personalised Gifts and Personalised Cards can become very addictive. Because your brain produces these opiates you get a natural high and will wish to experience this again. Imagine on Christmas morning you get an early call from a relative who is absolutely delighted and overcome by the Personalised Christmas Gift you have sent them. You will automatically feel good about yourself and will want to replicate this feeling. We know that many of our valued customers will often look for excuses to send Personalised Teddy Bear Gifts as they have been absolutely delighted with their past personalised gift giving experiences.
